Community Builders is a nonprofit organization working to strengthen neighborhoods and expand opportunity across the American West. I led the transformation that repositioned the organization’s brand, strengthened its storytelling approach, and built a more consistent communications program across digital and editorial channels.

Work

Creative and communications lead responsible for brand direction, editorial strategy, and managing a small communications team.

Brand Redesign
I led a comprehensive brand transformation to better reflect the organization’s mission and the communities it serves. Working across leadership and program teams, I helped clarify brand messaging and guide the visual and narrative direction of the organization’s communications.

Communications Strategy
I developed a more structured communications approach to support storytelling and engagement across the organization’s digital channels. This included establishing a consistent rhythm for communications, strengthening alignment of messaging across teams, and ensuring communications supported broader organizational goals.

Editorial Leadership
I led editorial development across the organization’s communications platforms, including social media and email newsletters. I worked with internal teams to surface stories from across the organization and translated complex community development work into clear, accessible narratives.

Outcome

The new brand and website provided the nonprofit’s development team with a stronger tool—and greater confidence—to seek funding in support of its mission. The platform also created a more engaging way to share stories about the communities the organization works to strengthen.
