Design Exchange Boston: Social Impact Challenge

The DxB360 Social Impact Challenge was a two-day collaborative event held as part of Design Exchange Boston’s annual design and innovation conference. The Challenge introduced participants to the practice of human-centered design while inviting them to develop creative solutions for a local nonprofit organization.

The event brought together designers, innovators, and community leaders to explore how design thinking can support social impact and community problem-solving.

Work

Lead event producer responsible for partner coordination, maintaining budget, sponsor involvement, and event management.

Program Design
I helped design the structure and goals of the Social Impact Challenge, creating a collaborative experience that introduced participants to human-centered design while producing actionable ideas for a local nonprofit partner.

Nonprofit & Partner Collaboration
I led the selection of The Boston Women’s Fund, a local nonprofit partner, and identified a meaningful challenge for participants to address. I also coordinated with a local studio to facilitate the design-thinking workshop that guided participants through the innovation process.

Event Production
I led a team of volunteers to plan and execute the two-day event, organizing sponsors and partners, managing the event budget, and coordinating logistics for participants, facilitators, and conference leadership.

Outcome

Participants collaborated in teams to develop potential solutions for The Boston Women’s Fund and presented their ideas to the full Design Exchange Boston conference at the conclusion of the event. The Challenge demonstrated how human-centered design can bring diverse perspectives together to generate creative approaches to complex social issues.
